- What type of practice is Lakewood Hills Internal Medicine?
Lakewood Hills is a primary care practice for adults. We see patients
18 years of age and older.
- What type of physician is Dr. Lewis?
Dr. Lewis is an MD who is board-certified in internal medicine. While
she studies and respects the contributions of multiple alternative
medicine modalities, she is not an alternative medicine practitioner.
However she respectfully works with patients who independently employ
alternative medicine practices as part of their overall healthcare
regimen.
- Is Lakewood Hills Internal Medicine in the Lakewood area of the
Metroplex?
No. The practice is located on the Richardson Regional Hospital campus.
Lakewood Hills refers to an area of town in Dr. Lewis’s previous
practice location in an outlying suburb. She decided to retain the
original name of the practice when she moved to the metroplex.
- How long will I have to wait for an appointment?
Lakewood Hills Internal Medicine prides itself on timely patient care
delivery. Urgent care patients can usually be seen the same day an
appointment is requested. Otherwise you can generally be worked in
within 3 days of your request.
- Does Dr. Lewis accept Medicare?
Yes. Dr. Lewis now accepts Medicare as
well as most major private
insurance plans. However,
Lakewood Hills Internal Medicine is not a contracted Medicaid provider.

- How do I make an appointment?
Call our office at 972-231-8883 weekdays between
8am and 5pm to set up an appointment. In the future you will be able
to request appointments online, but this feature is not yet available.
New patients can print off and bring a completed New Patient Registration
form to their first visit. The New
Patient Registration form
can be found on the Patient Forms page of the website. Alternatively, you can arrive
15 minutes early and fill out all necessary paperwork at the time of
your visit.
- What should I expect when I arrive for my appointment.
Please bring your insurance card and government-issued photo ID (driver’s
license, passport, etc) to each visit. If you want your past medical
history available to Dr. Lewis during your visit, please print the
Records Release form on the Patient Forms page. You should
give a copy to each provider that you want to fax records to Dr. Lewis
at least a week before your visit.
- What is the payment policy for my visit?
Your copay or estimated coinsurance will be collected at the time
that you check in. Benefits eligibility and/or deductible requirements
will also be verified at check in.
- Does Dr. Lewis perform PAP smears and well-woman visits?
Yes, Dr. Lewis performs routine female primary care screenings such
as PAP smears, manual breast exams, etc. However, if any abnormalities
are found you will be referred to a specialist. See our

- I’m looking to have all of mine and my spouse’s primary
care needs addressed in one place. Is this possible at Lakewood Hills
Internal Medicine?
Yes. Your bloodwork can be drawn in office during your visit. Imaging
and other diagnostic studies are available just steps away on the Richardson
Regional Hospital campus.
